HS Health/Counseling Resources

Resource Links

Information of jobs based on student interest. From math to sports, what jobs are available, what they are like, how do you get ready, how much does it pay, and more.

Wages, occupational outlook handbook, and more information on issues related to working.

Neale and Dolly Caffin of Selawik have created their own webpages with many useful links for counseling and related issues.

This website has many ways in which it may be used within the classroom setting.  Teachers as well as students and parents may check links to current health issue news articles for specific topic information or reports.  It has weekly insider tips that display articles of specific topics.  It’s Ejournal links you to a myriad of recent topics on health issues about students and informational articles for students.  This is a comprehensive health issues website.  I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting specific health information for schools and students.

This is another “all encompassing” website where a myriad of information may be found!  I was able to find many articles of interest in High School Health Issues.  It has a ‘quick search’ feature to expedite searches that is helpful.  One of its “Browse Topics’ includes Children/Infants.  It would make a good research site or teacher information site.  Its articles are not meant for student handouts. Information found is up-to-date, researched, and pertinent to topics taught in a Health Class.

This is a free website with excellent health education information to be used at the high school and college levels.  Its information is copyrighted, but, with the exception of some specific scales, etc., Health educators may reproduce information as long as it is distributed free to users.

Many different information sheets are included in this website that would be very appropriate as health class handouts or teacher information on the above listed topics which are so relevant for young adults.  In addition to the health sheets there is music by Brad Burns of Friday Night Live that accompany the topics!  The information is written in a fun, easy to read format for teen health programs.  The site has received numerous awards for its excellence in information and presentation.

This article about adolescence was found as part of what can be found on the Rand Corporation website.  It is a nonprofit institution that addresses the challenges facing the public and private sectors around the world.  It features quality standard books & publication research in the areas of Education, Health and Health Care, and Public Safety to mention only a few of the many addressed.  These are the topics that would go along with the topics of this web based search for High School Health Issues.  It includes quick links to newsroom articles, congressional resources, key contacts, etc.

I found the above article to be an EXCELLENT resource for teachers working with adolescent health issues.  It gives a great perspective on what we are dealing with as we work with teens.  The website has much more information of interest to Health Teachers.
