CTE News from the Lead Dog: NWABSD CTE staff are a professional learning community committed to career pathway support for after graduation for every student. The meeting schedule and agenda for Spring 2012 is posted below. During our monthly meetings we will pursue continuous improvement for secondary instruction and collaborate wit our sister instituions; the Alaska Technical Center and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Chukchi Campus. Our goal is regional employment for regional youth and young adults to support our industry and the needs of our regional Alaska Native corporate partners. Friday, February 17 – Scheduling & Budgeting for Teaching Trades in Small High Schools We’ll tackle the reality of small HS staff issues and how to keep it fresh and under budget. 3:15 PM Friday, March 9 – Using the Personal Career and Learning Plan in the Classroom 3:15PM All the world is a HS counselor and as the CTE designee at your site how do we keep the student and parent’s eye on the prize at the Alaska Technical Center? Friday, April 13 – Live Interactive Distance Delivery & Tabletop CTE Training for Small School General Staff Adjuncts 3:15PM Working with the teachers who take a period of CTE for the first time who can be teamed with the lead CTE person at the site and those who work alone on the edge of survival at their site.
