Best Match of My Life
It was the third period, 30 seconds to go, and I'm up by one. "All I have to do is ride him the rest of the match," I tell myself. With my dad, older brother, the rest of the team and fans cheering me on, telling me I can do it, gave me confidence. I had lost to this person no more than 2 weeks before and he wanted it just as bad as I did. All was going good until something happened in a split second. The whole atmosphere changed for me, and every one around me. After cleaning the blood off me, the mat and my competitor, I get back in the match, now down by one, hoping for the best. A couple days before we left to the Chugiak Bob Bailey Tournament our team had some problems with two wrestlers. Kelson and Scott got into a fight because Kelson got frustrated and Gia just happened to be passing by to see it. Our coaches tried to explain to her that it was just out of frustration and both wrestlers had apologized and were now friends. But she said she had to report it. On the day we were leaving there was still confusion on how they were going to be punished so both wrestlers and coaches ended up staying behind. Mr. Mason, our vice principal, and Mr. West, our math teacher, decided to be our chaperones and "coaches".
We got down to Chugiak and found out that Kevin's older brother Hans Hansen would be able to help with coaching. My first match was against the #1 seed so it wasn't looking so good. I ended up losing that match and had to fight my way through the constellations side of the bracket. The only person in my way was Josh Marioles from Valdez. I had lost to him by two points at the ACS tournament and I wasn't planning on losing to him again.
