| Welcome to Kotzebue, Alaska.
Who lives here?
Alaskan Natives make up most of the population in Kotzebue, but other
cultures also live in Kotzebue such as Asians, Caucasians, African-Americans,
Hispanics, and many other cultures.
Why do people live here?
No one knows for sure why people would want to live in a harsh cold climate.
Some think it's because it pays good money to live in this part of Alaska,
although it does, there are many things wrong with this "idea".
First off the rent in Kotzebue is outrageous, it ranges from $800-$1450
(for a 3 bedroom apartment). Second, the cost of food is ridiculous. Also
there is only one main store to buy food, actually there's two stores
in Kotzebue, but A.C. (Alaska Commercial Company) has the best variety.
I rest my case on this subject.

Where to go when you're bored.
Kotzebue is in rural Alaska, so the only way to get out of this village
and return to civilization is by using Alaska Airlines, which has
ridiculous airfares, $318.50 for a one-way ticket and $637 round-trip.
Kotzebue is the heart of the Nana Region; there are also 11 smaller
villages that you can visit using one of the local aviation companies,
using a boat during the summer, snowmobile during the winter
depending on the weather.
