The Red Sox are, by far, my favorite sports team. My granddad grew up in Boston and hooked me on the team when I was twelve. Now I follow their every move. During the season I subscribe to Gameday Audio so I can listen to the hometown radio broadcast over the Internet.
I love going to games in person; I've been to four so far. In August of 2004, my family and I went to Boston to and watched two Red Sox games at Fenway Park (left). It so happened that we got to see Pedro Martinez pitch a complete-game shutout in the first game we saw. The Red Sox also won the second game, and Curt Schilling pitched. The trip got special meaning later on, for the Sox won the World Series for the first time since 1918, a stretch of 86 years (bottom right). Now I can say I saw the world champion team play.
I went to two games in Seattle during the 2006 season as well. The Sox won one of the two. The game they won was fun to watch; they hit five homers and scored 12 runs. I would love to watch a Red Sox playoff game (especially if they won it). I am considering going to college in Massachusetts in no small part because of the Red Sox. People in Boston are pretty crazy about the team. I just hope I don't blow my college money on a World Series ticket one year (then again, it might not be too bad).
