Postsecondary/ High School Dual Credit
(Per Board Policy 6164.5)
The criteria for full-time students to be simultaneously enrolled in high
school and college courses and receive credit for successful completion of
these courses for graduation includes:
§ Students who passed the high school qualifying exam and take classes
in the subject areas they passed as alternative offerings at the college level
for required credit toward graduation
§ Any student can take classes at the college level and have it count
as an elective credit. This decision would be made on a case-by-case basis
to ensure the students and their parents understand that the credits count
solely as electives.
§ Students must register for at least three (3) semester hours to receive
0.5 high school credits and six (6) semester hours for 1.0 high school credit.
§ Upon completion of the college coursework, the student must submit
proof of the grade to the Principal or Assistant Principal for inclusion in
there permanent records.
§ All cost associated with college classes are the responsibility of
the student.
