The bilingual program, which is language based, has traditionally provided instruction in the Iñupiaq Language (which is the traditional language of the region’s people) and culture. Culturally rich activities for our students are based on the subsistence lifestyle that still is active in most of our communities. This heritage is undergoing changes, as all cultures do. Our district is finding ways, through local experts and our teaching staff, to incorporate all learning in and out of the classroom to further help our students develop their potential and contribute to their community. |
