The Social Studies Curriculum is composed of five important components:  performance standards, curriculum sequence guided by essential questions, pedagogy, assessments, and resources.  All five critical components provide each teacher with a comprehensive social studies program guide.

High school course offerings include Alaska History, U.S. History, Global Studies, U.S. Government and Iñupiaq Studies.  The curriculum guide and associated resources offer teachers a variety of activities and projects to assist students with mastery of the standards.  The program also provides multiple ways of assessing student performance through the use of rubrics, checklists and narrative evaluations.
