Immunization Requirements for All Students in NWABSD
Prior to first entry in an Alaska public school district or nonpublic school offering pre-elementary education through the 12th grade or any combination of these grades, a child shall be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, pertussis, Hepatitis A & B, mumps, measles, rubella and varicella (chickenpox) 2 doses for students in grades K through 6th. Any student who does not show evidence of required immunization or who does not present a letter or affidavit from the parent/guardian or physician, physician’s assistant, or advanced nurse practitioner stating reasons for exemption based on medical reasons or personal beliefs, shall be excluded from school until such time as the immunization is obtained or affidavit of exemption has been filed with the school. As a state mandate, all students, grades K-12 must have an annual TB skin test throughout their school years.
It is the parents' responsibility to make certain these requirements are completed. The school will remind you; but the policy is “no shots, no school”.
