Assistant Superintendent: Ralph King

Ralph King is starting his 17th year with the NWABSD and his third year as Assistant Superintendent.

Ralph's history within the district includes duties as a Principal and Teacher in Kobuk from August 2000 until 2004. He was then asked to relocate to Kotzebue where he became the Assistant Principal and later on the Principal at June Nelson Elementary School. 

Prior to working for the NWABSD, Ralph was the Principal of Holy Cross School (K-12) in the Iditarod School District. 

Ralph's educational career began in Montana where he taught multi-grade classrooms for 5th-8th grade for six years. His Principalship experience began in Valier, Montana where he oversaw a K-8 school along with being the Activities Director for the K-12 district. Ralph taught high school and middle school writing.

Ralph received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Northern Montana College in Havre, Montana with a Minor in Reading/Writing Instruction. He later received an endorsement in Special Education from the College of Great Falls in Great Falls, Montana. He acquired his M. Ed in School Administration and Leadership from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

Ralph is married to Elsie King and he has two sons, Rudy and Bryan, and one daughter, Deanna. Ralph has the very good fortune of having two grandsons, Tom and Trent King.
