The Northwest Arctic Borough School
District believes that technology is a tool to enhance education not a solution
in itself. The District encourages an integrated approach to the use of technology
in the classroom. It encourages its teachers to provide students with a variety
of integrated educational experiences.
Each school is outfitted with a Local Area Network (LAN) consisting of Gateway
computers connected to a central file server. Microsoft Windows graphical interface
allows easy, user-friendly access to all programs. Academic and enrichment software
for all grade levels is available. Computer software continues to be updated
and added as curriculum development committees revise current curriculum goals
and objectives.
The first ever 56K circuit

in the fall of 1997. This line serves the Kotzebue site including Kotzebue
Elementary School, Kotzebue Middle/High School and the District Office.
Each of the village schools within the Northwest Arctic Borough School
District now has a dedicated 1024K access to the Internet with
T-1 Service
in Kotzebue.
