The Northwest Arctic Borough School District believes that technology is a tool to enhance education not a solution in itself. The District encourages an integrated approach to the use of technology in the classroom. It encourages its teachers to provide students with a variety of integrated educational experiences.

Society has seen a rapid dependency upon technology development over the past
five years.
Technology touches the lives of all of us in our daily activities. We do not need to be computer programmers or technological wizards to realize the advantages of technology or to use technology effectively.
Technology is likely to change education in some ways that we are only beginning to see in other ways that we can not now envision. As classrooms take advantage of technology, a gradual process of change is begun. Technology must become a general tool that students use to acquire knowledge and solve problems in all areas. Technology should challenge students and staff to try new things and give them the opportunity to think through the best means of incorporating the innovation in ways suited to their styles. By using technology as a tool and integrating it into the learning experience, teachers model for students how to select and use technology in everyday life. Through thoughtful and effective innovation, students' learning can be enhanced in ways to take full advantage of the technology.
