Home to approximately 300 people, Ambler is located near the Kobuk and Ambler Rivers about 138 miles northeast of Kotzebue and 45 miles north of the Arctic Circle. Ambler’s school consists of 69 students, 94 % of whom are Alaskan Native. There are 7 teachers who incorporate bilingual,technology, music, art, PE, and many more topics into the school curriculum.
The NWABSD is communicating closely with the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and with the Maniilaq Association to develop and refine our preparedness plans. In the event of a suspected or confirmed case in the region, we will follow the state and CDC guidance to take steps to keep our students, staff, and community safe and slow the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
