Settled in 1901 as a supply site for gold mining, Deering is located near the Inmuchuk River and the historic Eskimo village site of Inmachukmiut, 57 miles southwest of Kotzebue. Four teachers serve about 50 students, all of whom are Alaskan Native.
The NWABSD is communicating closely with the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and with the Maniilaq Association to develop and refine our preparedness plans.
