B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8), WGU

Mrs. Monica Miller

I am returning for a fourth year here at KMHS, teaching math in the 7th grade. It looks to be shaping up as an interesting year for sure!  I know it will be challenging but I also know we can learn a lot in spite of and because of the unique circumstances we find ourselves experiencing.

I began my teaching career north of here in Point Hope at Tikigaq School in February 2016.  I taught Kindergarten then 4th grade before moving to Kotzebue to join the 7th grade team in August 2017.  I earned my BA of Interdisciplinary Studies (K-8) through Western Governors University (WGU) while working as a para-professional educator at Sheldon Point School in Nunam Iqua, AK.

Before going to school to become a teacher I worked 17 years in emergency services as a 911/police/fire/ems dispatcher in central Washington.  Prior to becoming a dispatcher I served as a Military Police Officer in the US Army at Ft. Richardson, AK (Anchorage).  I grew up in NE Oklahoma.
