Dear Families,
I am very excited to be your child's 1st grade teacher at June Nelson Elementary School. I would like to take this time to introduce myself, professionally and personally. I have a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Elementary Education from Montgomery, Alabama.
This is my 12th year teaching. Of those years, I have taught at JNES for 10 years (K-2nd)! Prior to June Nelson, I taught upper elementary grades for two years at a private school in San Antonio, Texas.
I decided I wanted to teach after participating in weekend tutoring at the Big Brother/ Big Sister program. I have greatly enjoyed educating little ones ever since! For fun, I enjoy pulling net, kayaking, photography, berry picking, and nature walks.
My husband is from Port Lions, Alaska, and we have two boys ages 5 and 10.
Kotzebue is the longest place I have ever lived; it is where our family calls home.
I am excited to work hard for your child's success and engage learning in a positive, nurturing, and productive environment.
