Hello Husky families!

My name is Miss Shelbi Garrett, and I am a fifth grade teacher this 2022/23 school year at JNES. 

I am originally from sunny Miami, Florida. I moved to Kobuk, Alaska in July of 2020 to teach Secondary Language Arts and Social Studies. I am now working in Kotzebue at JNES as a substitute in 5th grade. I have an undergraduate degree in Geography and a Masters in Corporate Social Responsibility and Economic Risk, both from Florida International University. I am currently remotely pursuing a Masters of Education in Special Education from the University of Alaska Southeast, and I will graduate in the Spring of 2023.

I look forward to sharing this year with the wonderful JNES 5th graders and their families. I hope to grow strong, meaningful relationships with my students and share with them my passion for learning.
