Hello! My name is Rochelle Skelly-Ramos, but at school, I go by Mrs. Skelly.
This is my 4th year teaching at NWABSD and my first year as the JNES music teacher! My favorite thing about teaching is my students. I love how different and versatile each individual student is, and I love getting to interact with their wonderful personalities every day at school. I am very excited to be teaching music this year, a subject that I am very passionate about. I currently can play, or I'm learning to play: The ukulele (baritone and soprano), piano, mandolin, drums, and the Irish chanter (pre-cursor to the bagpipes).
I am originally from the hot and humid state of South Carolina, but I greatly enjoy living here in Alaska where it's much cooler and the people are even more so. One thing about me is that I love the outdoors! I used to work as a leader at a wilderness therapy program for teens in North Carolina. I've also worked every summer of my life so far at some kind of outdoor recreational camp. I look forward to bringing that love for nature and our beautiful land into the classroom.
My after-school activities include running the JNES Drama Club and the KMHS DDF club. I also volunteer with the Fire Department in my free time.
If you need me, I am almost always at the school until at least 4:30. Feel free to call ext. 1873, drop by room 221 or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org
