I am excited to teach 5th Grade in Kivalina this year. This will be my sixth year teaching in Alaska; I have taught in both Saint Michael and Anchorage. Prior to that, I taught in Utah and Colorado. Fifth grade is a wonderful year for students and my favorite year to teach. (I have also taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.) My Basset Hound, George, is joining me in Kivalina. He is very friendly and likes to have his ears and back rubbed! I have a 26 year old daughter, Rachel, who lives in Anchorage with our cat, Tilly and bunny, Professor Hopkins.

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado and Idaho. My parents taught me to love nature and being outdoors. I enjoy hiking, running, skiing, rafting, and biking. My grandmother loved to travel, and passed that passion on to me. I have travelled to 26 countries. This summer, I travelled through Peru and Colombia. Machu Picchu is one of the most amazing places I have ever visited! I love experiencing new cultures and look forward to seeing even more of the world and bring that information back to my students.

Thank you for sharing your children with me this year.
