Mrs. Karen Keck

I come to the NW Arctic after spending most of my life in the Midwest.  I've taught many kinds of science classes, led summer camps, and taught swimming, boating and horseback riding lessons.  I'm good with animals and enjoy dancing, beekeeping, cooking spicy meals, and thumbing through field guides.  I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal and also love to travel.  Let's talk about where you have been or where you want to go!

In addition to teaching I participated in research in Montana that looked at the use of of native grasses on mine reclamation sites, and on a project with the US Department of Agriculture in Iowa that studied the effects of pesticide use on ground water and surface water.

I look forward to meeting my Kotzebue students and their families.  My hope is that we will inspire and challenge each other to learn wonderful new things this year.

Go Huskies!
