On the north shore of Kotzebue Sound sits the 30,000 square foot modern main facility, which houses the administrative offices, classrooms and a community resource room, 170. In 1981 the Alaska Technical Center was constructed as an adult vocational/technical training school designed specifically to meet the workforce demands of rural Alaskans. A 7,000 square foot addition was constructed to accommodate additional shop space and classrooms were renovated in 2013. The student population includes residents from all sectors of Alaska and of all age groups. A majority of our students are from rural communities throughout Alaska.

Our programs vary in their starting dates and length, but do operate from August to May each year with the exception of school holidays. The starting dates for specific programs can be obtained through our website calendar on ATC's homepage or by contacting the Registrar’s office.
