Hello Kiana, Alaska. I am so excited to be back in Kiana, teaching 4th grade for my 5th year. I had a great summer traveling to Texas and Nebraska and relaxing in Colorado with my family. First I went to a wedding in Texas, where I also toured the Dallas Zoo, Perot Museum, Reunion Tower and took a helicopter flight over nighttime Dallas. It was a HOT but fun trip. Next I flew to Denver, caught up with friends and attended another wedding. I also took my niece, Morgan, now 11 and nephew, Rian, now 8 to Six Flags Elitch Gardens Amusement Park and Casa Bonita.
After going to Rifle, Colorado where my family lives, I stayed with my mom and then traveled with her and my aunt to Nebraska to see family. Unfortunately when we got back my aunt ended up with blood clots in her leg and lungs. She is much better now and working on getting her strength back.
In late July I brought my mom to Alaska where we met up with friends from Denmark and England and traveled to Denali, Talkeetna and Seward. Then my friends headed to Canada and my mom came to see Kiana. We had fun setting up my classroom and she enjoyed meeting everyone.
My hobbies include reading, and watching TV and Movies. I also collect spoons, I now have over 1,000 in my collection, but only brought some of those with me. I will bring them into the classroom to share one day. I also enjoy scrapbooking and making stained glass pictures.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here these last four years in Kiana and am so excited to be returning for a fifth year. I am excited to have just one grade for the first time.
I am also 1/4 of the way through my principal certification and am enjoying learning how to be a principal both through the class and as Acting Principal when Mr. Kilburn is out of town. I will be doing 3rd/4th and Kindergarten Battle of the Books and Spelling Bee again this year.
I hope to have a very fun-filled fifth year, and I will try to add things to this page as the year precedes. Feel free to come in and talk with me if you have any questions or concerns.
