Hello Kiana, Alaska. I am so excited to be back in Kiana, teaching 3rd and 4th grades for my 6th year. I had a great summer traveling to Colorado, with a brief jaunt to Wyoming for a wedding. My dad helped me create a cribbage board from a moose antler and my mom helped me do some sewing for my class. I also took my niece, Morgan, now 12 and nephew, Rian, now 9 to Six Flags Elitch Gardens Amusement Park and Casa Bonita, this year my mom went with us and we spent most of the day in the water park. I also visited the only mountain top amusement park, located in Glenwood Springs, CO about 4 times. You have to take a Gondola ride to the top, and they have a giant swing, a roller coaster, zipline, tree swing, free fall and an Alpine Coaster, rated one of the 10 best in the country. The picture is me riding back to the top of the Alpine Coaster with the city of Glenwood Springs and the Colorado River in the background.
After a very long year filled with a lot of pain, my aunt finally got her hip replaced in July. The surgery went very well and she is recuperating nicely. My big expense this year was to get Lasik eye surgery. I don't have to wear my glasses anymore, and I love it. My vision went from 20/2400 to 20/15 in 24 hours.
My hobbies include reading, and watching TV and Movies. I also collect spoons, I now have over 1,000 in my collection, but only brought some of those with me. I will bring them into the classroom to share one day. I also enjoy scrapbooking and making stained glass pictures.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here these last five years in Kiana and am so excited to be returning for a sixth year. I am excited to have third grade again along with fourth this year.
I am also 3/4 of the way through my principal endorsement and am enjoying learning how to be a principal both through the class and as Acting Principal when Mr. Kilburn is out of town. I hope to be doing Battle of the Books and Spelling Bee again this year.
I hope to have a very fun-filled sixth year, and I will try to add things to this page as the year precedes. Feel free to come in and talk with me if you have any questions or concerns.
