I'm happy to be back in Selawik for the fifth year, and excited to be working with elementary and middle school teachers and students this year. As an Intervention Specialist, I'll be working with small groups of students to strengthen reading and language skills. Additionally, I serve as an NWATS, supporting teachers integrating technology into instruction. And as a SysOp in our school, I support staff and students with computer hardware and network access issues.
I taught for many years in small communities in Southeast Alaska - Haida and Tlingit villages, and isolated fishing communities. My training is early childhood education and educational technology, and I've taught all grades, most subjects -- even the old fashioned one-room school! I'm a third-generation Alaskan, born and raised in Juneau. In my spare time, I am an artist, a writer, and I love to quilt.
Common Sense Education - Our students are growing up in a digital world where even the youngest learners have access to digital tools. We must work together to help them learn to be successful as they grow and thrive, at home, at school, in our region, and beyond. This website offers tools to help them become thoughtful, considerate, and successful citizens.
