STEAM into Literacy

The district provided students the opportunity to take home a bag filled with a selection of STEAM Into Literacy books last week. This grant-funded literacy program aims to support student reading in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) and to help build home libraries with a variety of books that families can share and read with each other.

Research shows that reading aloud is one of the most important things parents and teachers can do with children. Reading aloud builds many importantfoundational skills, introduces vocabulary, provides a model of fluent, expressive reading, and helps children recognize what reading for pleasure is all about.
