Thank you for your interest in the Alaska Technical Center. The following procedures will assist you in becoming a student at the Alaska Technical Center. Please work with your school counselor or NANA Shareholder Resource Coordinator to ensure that the forms are complete and attached.
STEP 1 in becoming a student, you must fill out one of the Admissions Application Packets found under Application Forms that apply to you (New Student Admissions Application or the Short Course Application). Each application includes the necessary admission forms to be accepted into a program: dormitory residence application, consent to release education records form, alaska workforce investment board participant state grant application and the tuition payment agreement form.
New Student Admissions Application: A student who has never attended the Alaska Technical Center.
Short Course Application: A student who has already taken a course and attended the Alaska Technical Center.
STEP 2 once you have turned in your admissions application packet, you will be contacted by the Registrar to confirm that your packet was complete. The Registrar will send you an acceptance letter, an invoice of what the cost of the course will be and request additional information that will need to be provided to complete the admissions process. Admission Checklist
Once you have been accepted as a student to a full-time or short course, you will be required to submit the following documents to the Registrar's Office:
- Copy of NANA Enrollment Verification
- Copy of Local Tribal Enrollment Verification
- Copy of Social Security Card
- Copy of Birth Certificate
- Copy of State phone ID, preferably a REAL ID if your course includes travel to and from ANC
Additional Admission's information are as follows:
- If you are attending a course provided by the Northern Industrial Training (NIT) organization, you will be required to fill out their admissions forms which will be provided to you once accepted into their program.
- Scholarship information will be provided to you so that you can apply for scholarships to assist you with the cost of the course you are attending. Scholarship applications can be found on the quicklink portal.
- If you did not graduate within the NWABSD School system, you will be required to provide a copy of your High School or GED Transcript to the Registrar with your admission application.

Alaska Technical Center Military Training Credit Policy Alaska Technical Center (ATC) recognizes that military training offers valuable educational and vocational content. Our policy for providing credit for military members and veterans attending ATC is as follows:
To be eligible to receive credit for military service veterans must:
- Have graduated from high school or earned a General Equivalency Diploma
- Have completed at least two years of military service (or have been discharged because of disability
- Have been honorably discharged
ATC utilizes the ACE Military Guide in evaluating applicant's military experience and training for credit in accordance with Alaska Workforce Investment Boards Policy number 100-2014.
Advanced standing/Transfer of Credit
ATC cannot guarantee the transfer of credits or certificate earned at another educational institution. The transfer of credits/certificates in as the discretion of the receiving school according to applicable standards.
